# Emerging: frontier technologies, who works on them, how fast each field moves > Emerging tracks frontier technologies that are not yet mainstream (quantum, fusion, 6G, synthetic biology, brain-computer interfaces, humanoid robots and more), organized by technology: maturity stage with its evidence, momentum from real counts, and the companies, researchers, labs, papers, patents, funding rounds and dated events behind each field. It grows every day. By fru.dev. So far: 17 fields, 362 companies (+38 in the last 30 days), 183 researchers, 225 labs and institutions, 485 papers (+485), 128 funding rounds, 427 dated events (+38). A daily scan (05:50 UTC) reads official newsroom feeds, arXiv daily listings and SEC EDGAR 8-Ks; a weekly run (Tuesdays 12:50 UTC) recounts papers in OpenAlex, refreshes researchers and institutions, pulls funding.fru.dev and companies.fru.dev, and stores one snapshot row per field. Rows the scan found are marked unverified until a person checks them. History is append-only (/changes). Last rebuilt: 2026-09-25 02:34:55 UTC. ## About this data Events, papers, patents and funding from agency and company newsrooms, SEC EDGAR, arXiv, OpenAlex and funding.fru.dev, scanned every day and counted every Tuesday. What the scan finds is checked by hand; unverified items are marked. The list grows as new work appears. Stages and momentum are summaries for orientation, not forecasts or investment advice.
